Introduction

Use the Layout panel to preview and publish new stage layouts before or during your session. You can choose different layouts for speakers-only stages and screen-sharing stages, highlight the active speaker, adjust speaker tile styling, open legacy layouts, and hide or show the engagement sidebar for your own view.

Before you begin

• Open backstage and select Layout from the left navigation to access stage layout controls.
• Before your session goes live, you can use testing mode to preview layouts. Testing mode is available only before the event is live and is hidden after the session starts.
• Layout changes appear in the stage preview first. You must publish them before attendees see them.

Step-by-Step Guide to Change the Layout

The following are the steps to use the new layouts available in the Goldcast event stage:

Step 1: Open the Layout panel

In backstage, click Layout in the left navigation. If your session is not live and no one is on stage, use the testing controls to preview layouts with sample speakers. Turn sample screen share on or off as needed. Clear the testing setup to return to the actual stage view.

Step 2: Choose a speakers-only layout

When only speakers are on stage, choose one of these layout styles:

• Fill to let speaker tiles expand to use the available stage space.
• Fit to keep speaker tiles at a 16:9 aspect ratio.

You can also adjust these speaker options:

• Turn Highlight active speaker on or off. When it is on, the current speaker is highlighted with your primary button color.
• Show or hide borders around speaker videos.
• Use rounded or square corners for speaker videos.

Step 3: Choose a screen-share layout

When screen share or slides are on stage, choose one of these layouts:

• Shared Fill to show speakers in a larger side panel while shared content fills the rest of the stage.
• Film Strip to show speakers in a narrow vertical strip beside the shared content.
• Picture-in-picture (PiP) to show shared content full stage with one speaker as an overlay tile.
• Only Screen to show only the shared content on stage.

Depending on the layout you choose, you can also:

• Place speaker tiles on the left or right side of the stage in Shared Fill and Film Strip.
• Show only the active speaker in Shared Fill and Film Strip.
• In PiP, choose a circular or rectangular speaker tile and move it to a supported position around the screen.

Step 4: Publish your changes

After you adjust a layout, review it in the stage preview. When you are ready, click Publish to apply the changes for attendees. If needed, click Revert to return to the last published layout.

Step 5: Use legacy layouts if needed

If you need the previous layout experience, open Legacy Layouts from the Layout panel. During the transition period, this menu provides access to earlier layout options in a separate view with a back button to return to the new layouts menu.

Step 6: Show or hide the engagement sidebar

Use the engagement sidebar control to hide or show the sidebar for your own view. This setting is individual to each viewer and does not change the layout for other attendees, speakers, or staff.
