Introduction
When you download individual speaker recordings from a Goldcast event, you may see multiple file options for each speaker, including Aligned Video and Raw Video. These formats are designed for different post-production and editing needs.
This article explains the differences so you can choose the right file for your workflow.
Where You’ll See These Options

After an event is completed:
- Go to Recordings.
- Open your event.
- In Recording Files, expand a speaker’s dropdown.
- Select Aligned Video, Raw Video, or Audio Only.
Aligned Video
This file includes a black screen whenever a speaker leaves the stage or pauses their video during the recording. All aligned video files are the same length, which makes editing in external video software easier and removes the need to manually line up individual speaker feeds.
Raw Video
This file contains only the video captured while the individual speaker was actively on stage. Video lengths can vary from speaker to speaker within the same recording. For example, if one speaker appears on stage for 5 minutes and another for 10 minutes, their raw video files will reflect those different durations.
