Introduction

Polls and surveys in on-demand events help you collect feedback and measure viewer engagement after a live session ends. You can choose whether viewers see these engagement options throughout the recording or only during a specific time window.

Before you begin

  • Your on-demand page must require viewers to complete a form.
  • Viewers can access the recording by using a magic link from the original event or by completing the Gate on the on-demand page.
  • Public, ungated on-demand pages don't support polls and surveys because responders to polls and surveys must be identified.
  • When you create a poll or survey for the live event, you can choose to make it available for on-demand playback.
  • You can show a poll or survey for the entire session or during a custom time window.
  • You can set a custom time window only after the event ends and the on-demand recording is available.
  • After a viewer submits a poll or survey response, they can't edit that response.

Step-by-step guide to make a poll or survey available on-demand

  1. Open the session where you want to use the poll or survey.
  2. Add a poll or select the post-session survey.
  3. Turn on Available on demand by checking the checkbox.
  4. Save your changes.

Choose when polls and surveys appear

You can choose one of these display options:

  • Entire session – This means the polls and survey will be open the entire time a user is watching the on-demand recording of the session. They may respond to the polls and survey at any time.
  • Custom window – You can choose a specific time in the recording where the poll or survey will open and close. The viewer will only be able to view and respond to the poll or survey during those minutes of the video playback—similarly to how opening and closing a poll or survey during a live event works.

Note: You will only be able to assign the custom window after the event has ended and the on-demand recording is available, so that you can line up the custom time to the video playback times.

Update on-demand poll and survey settings

For Webinar

  1. In the event dashboard, select On-Demand Page.

  4. To use a custom window: after the event ends and the recording is ready:
    1. Open the poll or survey.
    2. Select Custom window.
    3. Enter the Opens at and Closes at timecodes.
    4. Select Save.

What viewers see during playback

  • Polls or surveys open for the duration of the video will always appear on the right side engagement panel for all viewers, with an indicator with the number of open Polls and Surveys in the toolbar.

  • If there are no polls or surveys open at that time, the viewer will see a note to that effect.

  • When a viewer has submitted a response to a poll, they will see Answered inside the poll itself and in the poll list.

  • When a viewer has submitted a response to a survey, they will see a submission success message. This message can be customized in the survey setup.

What viewers see during playback

  • If polls are open for the duration of the event, viewers will see a red dot next to the Poll tab. If polls are scheduled to open at a particular time, a notification will pop up in the bottom left corner of the window, as they do when a poll is opened during a live event.

  • The viewer can click on the poll and submit their response. They will see that their response has been recorded.

  • If there aren’t any polls open, the viewer will see this message.

  • Viewer will see the survey pop up as an overlay on the engagement toolbar on the right side. If the survey is open for the duration of the event, the survey will be open when the viewer enters the event. If the survey is scheduled to open at a specified time, it will pop up when the viewer reaches that time in the on-demand video.
