The Pause Recordings feature allows event producers to temporarily pause and resume the recording of a live Goldcast event. The feature is useful for customers who are restricted from recording specific segments, such as Q&A sessions, due to legal or compliance restrictions.
Feature Summary
- Recording starts automatically when the session goes live.
- Session producers can pause and resume recordings at any time during the live event by clicking the Pause or Resume button at the bottom of the screen.
- Recording stops automatically when the session ends.
- Live broadcast continues even if the recording is paused — the audience will always be able to see speakers and content on stage.
- Paused segments are not saved or accessible later — they are excluded from the final downloadable recording.
- Test events cannot be recorded.
How It Works
1. Starting the Session
When the session hasn’t gone live yet:
- The Record button at the bottom of the screen is disabled (grayed out).
- The top right corner of the screen notes that the session is Not Recording.

2. Going Live (Recording Starts Automatically)
As soon as the session starts:
- The recording starts automatically.
- Status in the top right corner of the stage changes to REC with a red icon.
- The Pause button at the bottom of the screen is now enabled (red).

3. Pausing the Recording
To pause recording during a live session:
- Click the Pause button in the bottom toolbar.
- The button label changes to Resume.
- A notification will display at the top of the stage: Session recording has been paused
- The top-left status reads REC PAUSED.

Warning! When a recording is paused, Captions and Lite Mode are disabled.
Heads up! Only event producers can pause a recording.
4. Resuming the Recording
To continue recording:
- Click the Resume button at the bottom of the screen.
- The button label changes back to Pause.
- The status indicator at the top right of the stage returns to REC mode.

Heads up! Only event producers can resume a recording.
What Happens in the Final Recording?
- Final recordings exclude all paused segments — paused segments are not saved or accessible later.
- You will be able to edit your recording and view auto-generated clips in Content Lab, but paused segments are omitted.
Important! Please note that the Speaker Grid and Active Speaker Mode are not available for paused recordings in Content Lab.
