For customers with contracts starting March 2024 or later, feature availability is based on your pricing tier. If interested, contact your CSM or our Sales Team to discuss pricing options.
Goldcast offers live captions and translated subtitles in 13+ languages to make your events accessible to a broader audience.
However, there might be scenarios where you prefer using custom VTT caption files instead of relying on the default Goldcast-generated captions. This option is particularly beneficial if your videos contain specialized industrial terms, industry-specific jargon, speaker names that are differently spelled, or unique organization names.
Goldcast now offers the feature to replace the default captions with custom VTT caption files for pre-recorded sessions.
How to use custom VTT caption files for pre-recorded sessions
Heads Up! This feature is only available for upcoming pre-recorded sessions. Currently, we do not support captions upload for past sessions.
You can replace Goldcast’s default captions with a custom VTT caption file. To do this:
- Raise a support ticket by contacting us via email at support@goldcast.io or by initiating a live chat with our support team by clicking the “?” icon in Goldcast Studio.
- Make sure to specify the event name/ID and pre-recorded session name.
- Attach/share the custom VTT file with us.
- Our team will upload the custom VTT file to your pre-recorded session. This will override the default Goldcast-generated captions and display the ones you provided.
FAQs

2. Is this feature included in all pricing plans?
Currently, uploading custom VTT files is only available to customers on the Premium and Enterprise pricing plans.
3. Are only VTT files permitted?
We highly encourage you to convert other file formats like SRT to VTT before sending them over to ensure caption accuracy and accurate time sync with the video.
