Resolution of Video Streams in Goldcast

Live Sessions

Currently, we support HD video quality of up to 720p for live sessions

However, the quality of the live stream depends on your network speed and system specifications. By default, Goldcast starts buffering live videos at 480p, and once we detect a strong and stable connection on your end, we increase the quality to 720p. However, if our systems detect that your signal is weak or unstable, we may lower the video quality to prevent buffering delays.

It's also important to note that the streaming quality is dynamically adjusted based on the number of users in the session. As more users join the session, the size of each user's video feed is reduced. As a general guideline, when there are more than eight users in the session, Goldcast may reduce the quality of each video to around 180p/240p to ensure that the viewing experience remains good without hogging your bandwidth.

Pre-recorded Sessions

Goldcast provides a default video quality of 1080p for pre-recorded sessions, which ensures a high-definition viewing experience. However, the viewer’s video quality might be reduced in case of slow internet connectivity.

RTMP Sessions

Currently, we support HD video quality of up to 1080p for RTMP sessions, but the quality might be reduced depending on the user’s internet connection.

Recording Quality

All recordings in Goldcast - live, pre-recorded, and RTMP In streams - are captured in 1080p using the h.264 codec main profile and AAC audio codec with a sampling rate of 48kHz.

However, note that the final output of the recordings may be affected by the quality of the speaker's network and the video quality of any uploaded assets. Therefore, we highly recommend that speakers connect to a stable internet connection to ensure the best quality recordings.
