Introduction
Live events are dynamic — but life happens. Attendees join a few minutes late, get pulled into a side conversation, or simply zone out momentarily. When that happens, they often lose the thread and disengage silently.
AI Catch Me Up Summaries gives attendees a lightweight, on-demand way to instantly recover context and jump back into the live experience — without rewinding, without waiting for a recording, and without disrupting anyone else.
What Is AI Catch Me Up Summaries?
AI Catch Me Up Summaries is a real-time AI feature that generates concise, accurate summaries of your live event session—on demand, at any point during the event.
When enabled, attendees see a Catch Up button inside the event. Clicking it surfaces a brief summary (3–5 bullet points) of what they missed—without interrupting the live stream.

Who Is This For?
| Persona | Problem | How This Helps |
|---|---|---|
| The Late Joiner | Joined mid-session and feels lost | Gets a summary of everything covered from session start-up to their join time |
| The Zoned-Out Attendee | Was present but lost focus briefly | Gets a rolling summary of the last few minutes |
How It Works for Attendees
Late Joiner Catch-Up
When an attendee joins after a session has started, a subtle Catch Me Up prompt appears in the event interface.
- Attendee joins the event after it has begun.
- The Catch Up button appears as a non-intrusive CTA.
- Attendee clicks the button.
- A concise summary of everything covered from session start to their join time appears in a side panel.
- Attendee dismisses the panel and returns to the live stream — now with full context.
Note
- The catch-up button is user-initiated only. It will never auto-pop or interrupt the live experience.
- The generated summary is cached for the next two minutes. Any other user who requests a summary during that time will receive the same one.
Zoned-Out Recovery
If an attendee has been present since the start, they can use the same Catch Up button at any point during the session to get a summary of the last few minutes.
- Attendee clicks Catch Up at any point during the event.
- A rolling summary of the last ten minutes appears in the panel.
- Attendee reviews the summary and dismisses—returning to live with full context.
The system automatically determines the right summary scope based on the attendee's context:
- Late joiner → summary from session start to now.
- Active attendee → summary of recent content
Step-by-Step Guide to Enabling AI Catch Me Up Summaries
The Catch Me Up can be enabled or disabled independently for each event—before the event or even during a live session. The following are the steps:
- Go to your event in Goldcast Studio.
- Open the Edit Event drawer.
- Navigate to the section.
- Toggle Catch Me Up ON or OFF independently.
- Save your settings.

You can return to these toggles at any time before or during a live event to adjust availability.
Note: To enable this feature, you must enable captions first. Make sure captions are on and that this isn’t a test event.
FAQs
Q1. Does the Catch Up button appear automatically for late joiners?
The button appears as a subtle, non-intrusive CTA — but it is never triggered automatically. Attendees always choose when to use it.
Q2. How long does it take to generate a summary?
Summaries are designed to appear in under three seconds. In the rare case of a delay, a loading state will be shown. If a summary isn't available (for example, the transcript hasn't built up enough content yet), a graceful fallback message will appear instead.
Q3. Can an attendee use Catch Up more than once during a session?
Yes. Attendees can click the button multiple times throughout the event to get updated summaries as the session progresses.
Q4. Can I turn these features off mid-event?
Yes. Organizers can toggle the feature on or off before and during a live event.
Q5. Are summaries stored or shared anywhere after the event?
Summaries generated during the session are not stored long-term.
Q6. Are the summaries accurate? What happens if the transcript is incomplete?
Summaries are generated strictly from the live transcript — the system does not add or infer information not spoken during the session. If the transcript is incomplete or too short to summarize, the system will show a fallback message rather than generating an inaccurate summary.
