Speaker vs. Organizer vs. Attendee Permissions: A Quick Comparison

In a Goldcast virtual event, there are three primary roles: 

  • Admin/Organizer
  • Speaker and 
  • Attendee

Admin vs. Speaker vs. Attendee Access

The organizer (or admin) has access to:

  • The Goldcast Studio: For creating and setting up the event 
  • The Backstage of the Event Space: To coordinate with speakers and other organizers 
  • The Event Space: To engage and interact with attendees via the Engagement Panel 

Speakers don’t have access to Goldcast Studio but have access to the backstage of the Event Space. They can go on Stage during their session(s) to present their content and interact with the attendees via the Engagement Panel. They can also watch the event live like other attendees. 

Attendees only have access to the Event Space. They do NOT have access to the backstage or Goldcast Studio. 

Admin vs. Speaker Permissions

Though admins (organizers) and speakers have access to the backstage, they have varying permissions. Here’s a quick run-through of the permissions available to admins and speakers in the Event Space:

Manage manual session redirection (start/stop session during an event) 

Note: However, if the admin has turned off this control, speakers will not be able to start or stop sessions. 

 

 

 

Post a message to the stage during the event

Publish a scrolling ticker on stage during the event

Share a global announcement across the whole event

Move speakers/organizers on or off stage 

Mute speakers/organizers

Share videos/slides/polls to the stage

Share their screens onstage

Launch Polls 

Launch Surveys 

Share attendee questions on stage

Accept attendees onstage via the Video Q&A feature 

Answer and approve questions in moderated Q&A

Delete questions in moderated Q&A

Share chat messages to the stage or delete messages from the session chat, public chat, and speaker chat

(Note: Speakers can only share and delete chats from the sessions they're a speaker at)

 

 

Delete chat messages from rooms and booths

Send chat messages to the Q&A tab 

Share a logo/image onstage

Modify stage layout when sharing slides, polls, Q&A, or their screen on stage
