Goldcast makes it super easy to edit event and webinar recordings using Content Lab and publish them anywhere in the Goldcast ecosystem, including:
- On-demand pages for both events and webinars
- Video Hubs
- Upcoming events, etc.
This article provides a step-by-step guide on editing and publishing event and webinar recordings using Content Lab, Goldcast's AI video repurposing tool.
Step 1: Open the recording
- Log into Goldcast Studio and click on the Content tab on the left.
- Click the Show All button on the top right and find and open the event or webinar recording you want to edit.

This opens the recording in Content Lab's video editor.
Heads up! Event and webinar recordings are available for editing in Content Lab 30 minutes after their end time.
Step 2: Edit the recording
Content Lab streamlines the editing process for full-length event and webinar recordings. Once you're on the Recording tab you can perform the following actions:

Trim the recording
Adjust the timeline markers to modify the start and end points of the recording.
Remove video segments
- Review the transcript to identify the sections you want to remove (e.g., filler words, mistakes, or irrelevant content).
- Select the corresponding text and click the Delete button in the pop-up menu.
- Content Lab will automatically remove the video segment corresponding to the deleted transcript. You can notice the deleted portion greyed out in the timeline.

Pro Tip: Deleted a segment by mistake? No worries, just select the deleted portion in the transcript, and click Restore in the popup menu to bring it back to your video.
Add templates
Click on Templates in the right menu to choose and apply your desired template. To know more, refer to How to Create and Use Templates in Content Lab.

Change video layout
Click Layout on the right menu to:
- Choose the video's Aspect Ratio
- Convert the video into an Audiogram
- Add Borders

Customize captions
Click Captions on the right menu to toggle on/off the captions and select your preferred caption style.

Add background
Click Background on the right menu to set a specific color or use an image for your video's background.

Add an intro and outro
Click the icon at the beginning and end of the video timeline to add an intro and outro, respectively.

Correct captions
Select words with spelling, punctuation, or capitalization errors. Click Correct in the pop-up.

Select Correct for a single instance or Correct All for all occurrences in the transcript.

Hide in captions
Select a word or chunk of text you want to remove from the captions and click the icon to hide it.
Note: This only hides it in the captions, but it isn't removed from the video.

Key points to note
- If you want to undo your most recent action, you can use the Undo Changes icon, which only removes the last applied change while keeping any prior edits intact.
- If you need to restore the recording to its original state, click the Revert Changes button. This action will undo all edits and revert it to the initial version, the default Goldcast recording.

Step 3: Publish the recording
Once you have completed editing the recording, click the Publish button to apply the changes.

Heads up! After you click publish, the system requires a processing time approximately equal to the video length to update the recording.
Once processing is over, Content Lab automatically updates the old version with the most recent version of the recording wherever it is in use.

Step 4: Enable on-demand viewing
For Events
If you have already enabled the on-demand mode for your event, Goldcast will automatically publish the updated event recording on the on-demand page.
If you haven't turned on the on-demand mode, from the Event dashboard, click the Edit Event button.

Next, turn on the on-demand toggle and click Save.

This action will publish the most recent edited version of the event recording on the on-demand page.
For Webinars
If you have already enabled the on-demand mode for your webinar, Goldcast will automatically publish the updated webinar recording on the standalone on-demand page.
If you haven't turned on the on-demand mode, from the Webinar dashboard, click the Edit Event button.

Next, turn on the on-demand toggle and click Save.

This action will publish the most recent edited version of the webinar recording on the standalone on-demand page.

FAQs
1: How do I use an edited event recording for an upcoming event or webinar?
You can add an edited event recording:
- As a video to share on-stage during a live session
- As a video in a pre-recorded session
- As a video in a video hub
2: Should I update the event recording in multiple places if I make any edits using Content Lab?
No. You do not need to update the event recording in multiple places after making edits in Content Lab. Once you click the Publish button in Content Lab, Goldcast will automatically update the video everywhere it is used. If you want to retain a copy of the default Goldcast event/webinar recording, we highly recommend downloading it before making any edits.
Here's how to do it:
For Events
Once the event is over, from the event dashboard, click Program → Agenda and click on the session recording you want to download.

In the Edit Session Details window, scroll to the on-demand section, click the three-dots icon and click Download to save a local copy of the default recording as a .mp4 file.

For Webinars

Once the webinar is over, and post-event assets are generated, click the Download button to save a local copy of the default recording as a .mp4 file.
